Dr. Jennifer Doan ND HOM Dr. Ac
Integrative Medicine. Professional Homeopathy. Hope.
I am a practitioner of integrative medicine offering care for adults and children, drawing on more than 30 years of clinical experience in naturopathic medicine, traditional chinese medicine, psychotherapy, and homeopathy.
My work is grounded in the understanding that healing is not linear, and that true change often requires working at deeper levels than symptom management alone.
I currently see clients in Vancouver, British Columbia, and online across British Columbia, Alberta, and the United States.
Over the past 15 years my practice has increasingly centred on the art and science of homeopathy. This shift has come from repeatedly witnessing what homeopathy is capable of, in cases where other approaches have not brought lasting change.
Homeopathy demands a high level of precision, understanding and skill from the practitioner. You will find me travelling and studying internationally with some of the leading teachers of our time.
As part of my homeopathic approach, I draw on psychological and somatic frameworks influenced by the work of Virginia Satir and Jack Rosenberg. To understand my patients more deeply, I draw on dream work, imagination, intergenerational themes, gestalt and shadow work, which are important tools in daily work.
My patients come from a wide range of backgrounds and life stages, and many have already explored multiple approaches to their health—including conventional medicine, naturopathic care, functional medicine testing, supplements, and talk therapy. And something deeper remains unresolved. My patients are self-aware in that they sense their symptoms are not just isolated problems, but part of a larger pattern to be understood.
Training and background
My background includes an ND from the Australasian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Sydney, Australia, and I also hold a Doctor of Naturopathy from the Canadian College of Naturopathic medicine in Toronto, Ontario. My advanced training includes graduating from the Homeopathic Master Clinician Program (Lou Klein), Integrative Body Psychotherapy (IBP Institute, California), and the Satir Institute of the Pacific (advanced family systems training).
I have also worked extensively with acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, which I have practiced for over 25 years. I am trained in meditation and energy work along with other somatic and consciousness awareness practices.
My homeopathic style
I study with some of the most innovative teachers working today including Dr. Rajan Sankaran and the Bombay group, Louis Klein, Michal Yakir, Jan Sholten, Dr. Jonathon Hardy, Dinesh Chauhan, Roger Morrison, Jayash Shah, Sujit Chatterjee and Schachindra and Bawisha Joshi. My homeopathic style follows the school of Dr. Rajan Sankaran, Jan Sholten and Michal Yakir.
My path
I wasn’t one of those people who knew what path to follow when they were young and I couldn’t see the purpose in following along a path that I couldn’t resonate with. I spent most of my 20s travelling extensively, exploring creative and scientific pursuits and discovering my own path. This journey of self-discovery informs the way I guide my patients today.
Teaching and mentorship
I am a teacher of teachers and am sought out in the community for my knowledge of homeopathy, traditional chinese medicine and western herbal medicine making. I have taught and inspired hundreds of students as senior lecturer and clinic advisor at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic medicine and mentor preceptors and lecture at local and national Homeopathic and Naturopathic workshops and conferences. Education is a core value for me, and I’ve created a series of online courses to support patients and practitioners alike in their journey.
Trusted care
I take this trusted position seriously. For many I am a supportive place of refuge. My clinical decisions are grounded in experience, ongoing study, and a commitment to your long-term wellbeing. I remain committed to staying current and engaged with ongoing developments in the field.
My Lineage
I’d like to share a deep offering of gratitude to all of my teachers and mentors over the years who have helped shape the practitioner I have become.
